Rumored that the 5G version of the iPhone will use ultrasonic screen fingerprint technology
according to foreign media macrumors report, Apple plans to introduce the ultrasonic screen fingerprint recognition scheme in the 5G version of the iPhone released this year.
It is mentioned in the report that iPhone OLED panel supplier BOE and Qualcomm have jointly developed the ultrasonic fingerprint recognition technology. However, according to the previous Bloomberg news, the iPhone will not use under-screen fingerprints in 2020, and of course does not rule out the possibility of Apple's adjustment.
At present, Qualcomm's ultrasonic fingerprint identification technology and modules are the only modules on the market that have mass production and high reliability.
At present, off-screen fingerprint recognition is mainly two schemes, optical fingerprint recognition and ultrasonic fingerprint recognition. Compared with optical fingerprints, ultrasonic fingerprints have higher security and better applicability. But at present, the overall technology is still not as mature as optical fingerprints. It is for this reason that most mobile phones on the market today use optical fingerprint recognition.
If Apple's 5G iPhone is equipped with an ultrasonic screen fingerprint recognition solution, it will be Apple's first iPhone with screen fingerprint technology. However, the 5G iPhone may still continue to use Apple's Face ID technology, and Face ID and off-screen fingerprint recognition may appear on the 5G iPhone at the same time.
It is worth mentioning that there are media reports that due to the impact of the epidemic, Apple will postpone the mass production date of the new generation flagship iPhone (iPhone 12) by one month.
Not surprisingly, there are four models of the iPhone 12 series that Apple will release this fall, namely the 5.4-inch iPhone 12, the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Plus and iPhone 12 Pro, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max.
